MasterCard Simplifies PayPass™ Issuance for MULTOS Chip Card Issuers Solutions Technology Developer Partners Consortium News and Events Podcasts Blog Home News and Events MULTOS in the news MasterCard Simplifies PayPass Paris - France and Waterloo - Belgium, November 13, 2007 - MasterCard Worldwide today announced the launch of a new integrated contact and contactless EMV chip card payment application that supports both M/Chip 4 and MasterCard® PayPass™ for issuing banks using the MULTOS smart card platform. For the first time, the new MasterCard Integrated Card Application (MICA) makes MasterCard's industry-leading PayPass contactless payments technology an option for all MULTOS card issuers. At present, financial institutions in 32 countries have issued more than 75 million cards using the MULTOS platform. MICA provides these issuing banks with a choice of chip card platform solutions to support the delivery of their chosen strategies. MICA has proven that contactless transactions can be performed in less than half a second and has passed stringent security assessments. This means that cardholders can benefit from rapid but safe contactless transactions.
